About to have a baby

Heironimus Family

We're getting our stuff together to go to the hospital tomorrow to have baby-half-dozen. I just setup a twitter account (heironimus) so a few people can monitor progress. I'll try to post something here too.

A simple summary of our lives

Heironimus Family

I just sent an update to my MIT alumni group and thought I would share it here. It basically summarizes our lives in a few words.

My wife Beth and I are happily living in Springfield, MO with our 5 children, Adam (10), Luke (8), Rachel (5), John (3) and Isaac(1).

I have been working at DMP, a security systems manufacturer, for over 13 years in various positions, designing software, designing electronics, and various types of management. My job title and responsibilities change almost monthly.

Beth keeps busy homeschooling our oldest 3 and they are thriving with it. I cannot imagine schooling any other way.

We bought a house "in the country" about 2 years ago with 2 acres, lots of open space, lots of trees, and a big patch of woods behind it that is owned by the state. Our children love playing on every square inch of the land.

We recently joined a reformed Baptist church and have been loving the fellowship we have with other like-minded, large, homeschooling families. Our main goal is to serve God and teach our children to do the same and its great to be with other families who think the same way.

Friday night fun!

Heironimus Family

Some families have fun on Friday nights by watching movies. Others play games. Tonight, we got together after dinner and gave each other shots with saline (rather than insulin) or blood glucose tests!

It's been a long time...

Heironimus Family

I've been putting off adding any entries until I could really catch up on all that has happened the past seven months. Rather than making a long, drawn out post here is a quick list of two major happenings.

In February, we found out that John has type I diabetes. It has certainly been an adventure, but he has been a champ with 4 insulin shots and 5-7 finger pricks every day. Our meals consist of lancets and glucose meters, counting carbs, measuring spoons and scales, estimating how much is left of the piece of bread he didn't fully eat, and Humalog shots.

On May 26, our fifth child, Isaac, was born. So far, he's been a great baby. At first, he didn't eat as well as he should have, but he is now been doing much better. He's not a great sleeper, but not bad either. Everyone loves him.

This morning, I awoke around 2AM (I can’t remember the exact time) because Beth couldn’t sleep...

We now own two houses!

Heironimus Family | Moving

Today we closed on our new house. We are doing some serious cleaning today and tomorrow and we move in Friday. I just spent a couple hours packing boxes in our garage. Beth has done almost everything else, as far a packing.

Monday, we close on our current house. It sold six days after being listed and the buyer want to move in ASAP. It looks like we have a busy weekend ahead.
